Supporting Refugees
WCWR aims to support refugees in many different ways
Through practical assistance, we help refugees integrate and lead independent lives.

Helping Refugees Build a Home in Worcester
Meeting essential needs
For refugee families that have settled in Worcester, we help them source everything they need to turn a house into a home. Things like large pans or pressure cookers, sewing machines, children’s toys,
For the asylum seekers locally we provide clothing, shoes, new underware, winter coats and sportswear including trainers. We also give out SIM cards, working with Migrant Help to get them activated. We have sourced over 50 refurbished mobile phones, so that the asylum seekers can phone family at home.
English Language Lessons
We deliver English lessons twice a week in the hotel, for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced students by professional language teachers, supported by volunteer Teaching Assistants. We also signpost to the local college and other language groups locally, one run by a local church. For refugee families we can and do provide 1 to 1 support if needed as well as group lessons. We envision a Worcester where refugees are embraced and empowered.
Practical Support
WCWR offers a wide range of practical support: from help with shopping or transport to medical appointments. We also provide Briefing Sheets on where to go in Worcester that is free of charge or what to do when you are granted ‘Leave to Remain’ even sourcing accommodation locally.
